New Balance was founded in Boston, USA in 1906 as a manufacturer of corrective shoes that provided arch support insoles and treated flat feet.
The name "New Balance" comes from the meaning of "bringing a new sense of balance to the wearer." Based on the know-how of a manufacturer of corrective shoes, which is possible only with knowledge of foot anatomy and a deep understanding of orthopedics and exercise physiology, the company began manufacturing custom-made running shoes in the 1960s.
While continuing to carry on its traditions, the company is now incorporating the latest technology to develop shoes that offer better fit.
